HOUSTON – Houston firefighters responded to Waltrip High School Wednesday morning after reports of a gas leak, according to the Houston Fire Department.
HFD crews were called to the school at 1900 W. 34th St. at about 9:14 a.m.
Firefighters found elevated carbon monoxide levels in the basement associated with hot water heaters. Readings reached about 50 parts per million.
The gas was shut off, and firefighters used electric fans to ventilate the area.
Carbon monoxide readings later returned to 0 parts per million. HFD said no elevated readings or other concerns were found elsewhere in the building.
No injuries or medical transports were reported.
HFD has since cleared the scene and said there are no further hazards identified.
