A trailer full of supplies is headed to the people on the front lines of the Ross Fire.
Patrick Johnson, founder of J-Star Ministries, made the trip to North Texas to deliver water and other much-needed supplies to firefighters and emergency crews.
Johnson said he originally planned to stop in Mineral Wells, but learned a fire department in Graford was running short on basic supplies. He said seeing the damage up close was heartbreaking, but watching communities come together reminded Johnson why he keeps making these trips.
“If life is a game, I don’t want to be on the bench. I want to be in the game, like put me in the game, coach,” Johnson said. “So, the good Lord put me in, and He gave me an assignment, and I’m trying to do it to the best of my ability.”
Johnson said he wants to “serve in a spirit of excellence,” and have people feel loved and appreciated.
The trip was Johnson’s 86th disaster relief trip. He said each trip reinforces the same lesson: even in the middle of devastation, people are willing to step up and help.
