UPDATE: Gun found at Sam Houston High stolen from Texas

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said a gun discovered Wednesday afternoon in the backpack of a Sam Houston High School student was stolen out of Texas.
Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies were notified a student was possibly in possession of a firearm about 10 minutes before the bell rang to end the school day.
“The student was detained and upon further investigation a gun was located in the student’s backpack,” Vincent said.
The student — 18-year-old Ja’Vonte E. Pete — was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with carrying a firearm by a student on school property and possession of a stolen firearm. His bond is pending.
The investigation is continuing, Vincent said, with the help of the Calcasieu Parish School Board.
