The El Paso Locomotive ruined a milestone night for Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Robbie Mertz.
The Upper St. Clair native scored his first goal of the season in his 200th game with the team, but the Locomotive scored in the final minute of stoppage time to secure a stunning 2-1 win Wednesday night.
Mertz scored in the 53rd minute after a six-man passing sequence to give the Hounds (10-9-3) a 1-0 lead. Eric Calvillo deflected in an Arturo Ortiz shot to tie the score in the 57th minute and Noah Dollenmayer headed in a ball from the box in the 93rd minute to give El Paso (11-7-4) the win.
The loss ended a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) for the Hounds. El Paso has won five in a row.
The Hounds return home to host the league-leading Tampa Bay Rowdies at 5 p.m. Saturday at F.N.B. Stadium.
