Samad Taylor is continuing to get his feet back under him at Triple-A El Paso.

The 28-year-old outfielder doubled and drove in two runs on two hits in a 5-4 win in eight innings in El Paso’s 5-4 win at Oklahoma City to start a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Taylor has been on the injured list since July 8 with an oblique strain. The two-hit game on Wednesday lifted his batting line to .304/.407/.478 with one homer, three RBIs, three walks and 10 strikeouts in seven games since starting a rehab assignment.

Taylor was hitting .330/.410/.398 with six steals in 26 games in the majors with the Padres.

It remains to be seen if they’ll activate him before rosters expand from 26 to 28 in September. The journeyman is out of minor league options.

Catcher Ethan Salas (.899 OPS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Right-hander Jhony Brito (2.98 ERA) allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings in the start. He struck out two.

Oklahoma City 6, Chihuahuas 0 (7): RHP Evan Fitterer (3-7, 4.32 ERA) allowed four runs — one earned — in 2⅓ innings in the start in the second game of a doubleheader. RF Carlos Rodriguez (.788 OPS) collected two of the team’s six singles in the loss. 1B Nick Pratto (.740 OPS) earned the only walk.

Springfield 14, Missions 4: LHP Luis Gutierrez (1-2, 4.96 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in 1⅔ innings in the loss. DH Tirso Ornelas (.744 OPS) hit his 14th homer. RF Alex McCoy (.873 OPS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI. 1B Romeo Sanabria (.786 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (50-70)

Dayton 2, TinCaps 1: RHP Carson Montgomery (3-8, 4.81 ERA) struck out six and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in four innings in the loss. 1B Yoiber Ocopio (.497 OPS) went 2-for-4. CF Conner Westenburg (.738 PS) went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. LF Kasen Wells (.673 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (61-61)

Rancho Cucamonga 14, Storm 1: 1B Augie Lopez (.417 OPS), the Padres’ 10th-round pick this year out of USC, hit his first professional home run. DH Ty Harvey (.633 OPS) went 1-for-4 for the Storm’s other hit. RHP Cameron Nohos (1-4, 9.25 ERA) allowed eight runs in 1 ⅓ innings in the loss.
