Six Flags Entertainment Corporation said Tuesday it will shift its main offices from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Arlington, Texas, by March 2027. This brings the company back to where the original park opened in 1961.
The Arlington location at Choctaw Stadium will serve as the central hub. Choctaw Stadium has held part of the company’s workers since 2020.
“After an extensive review, we determined that concentrating our personnel, processes, and decision-making in our Arlington office, where a portion of Six Flags’ corporate employees are located, is the best path forward for the Company,” said John Reilly, president and CEO, according to Spectrum Local News. “Bringing our corporate team together in the office will enhance collaboration across functions, strengthen our culture, and improve coordination among our new executive leaders.”
This shift comes after the 2024 merger that joined Six Flags with Cedar Fair and first placed the main offices in Charlotte. That $8 billion deal created North America’s largest operator of amusement parks.
Six Flags runs 34 amusement parks, water parks, and nine resorts across North America. Five parks sit in Texas. Arlington’s spot puts it near a big chunk of what the company owns.
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross told Fort Worth Report the city has worked on bringing this move about for a while now. “We are very excited that they’ve chosen to consolidate everybody and bring the entire headquarters back for the whole corporate group, which is even larger than the original Six Flags, back here to Arlington,” Ross said.
The company has poured tens of millions into Six Flags Over Texas in recent years. In July, the park opened Tormenta Rampaging Run, the world’s only giga-dive coaster with six world records.
About 155 people work at the Charlotte office. Carowinds has 2,700 total workers during peak season, though most are seasonal. Many will get a chance to transfer to Arlington.
The company will keep putting money into Carowinds and Carolina Harbor in the Charlotte metro area. Rip Roarin’ Falls, a new attraction at Carowinds, should open in 2027.
An office in Sandusky, Ohio, will remain open too. That’s where Cedar Fair had its main offices before and where Cedar Point sits.
