After being down 35-17 in the first half, the Bobcats posted 19 points in the fourth quarter to give themselves a chance to win. But late-game mistakes struck again for Texas State, causing it to lose its fourth straight game, 42-39.

Kinne said afterward that he couldn’t tell what exactly was happening, but that teams have come after Texas State multiple times this year.

“It’s a part of it. I was proud of the guys for the way that we got away and got out of there,” Kinne said.

Dozens of players, coaches and staffers pushed into a crowd near the Ragin’ Cajuns’ logo; several uniformed players threw punches at the opposing team. Staff members and players tried to separate the aggressors after a few Bobcats swung at Louisiana players. An unidentified Louisiana player was even seen swinging his helmet at a couple of Texas State athletes.

Some fell to the ground about 12 seconds into the video. Around the same time, a member of the Louisiana coaching staff held back a uniformed Bobcats player in a smaller scuffle to the left of the larger group.

On the other side of the brawl, Desormeaux did not hide his disappointment in the ending of the game, calling the incident “classless” on behalf of Texas State. The coach also said one of his players got hit in the tunnel after the initial incident had dispersed.

“Think there’s no room for that in college football,” Desormeaux said. “Been playing these guys for 13 straight years. Never had anything like that happen, that’s embarrassing.

Two Texas State players, Devarick Woods and Jordan Sanders, appear to trade blows with members of the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana’s Courtline Flowers appears to exchange punches with a Bobcats player who’s then put into a headlock and pulled away. Another T-State player, No. 0, threw two punches at No. 84 of Louisiana after exchanging words outside of the larger group (both teams have multiple players who share the same numbers).

Some Bobcat players are even seen pushing one another as the scuffle breaks up.

After a Texas State spokesperson initially said the postgame press conference would be canceled, head coach GJ Kinne addressed the media afterwards. Texas State President Kelly Damphousse released a statement after the game, saying he’s in contact with Sun Belt commissioner Keith Gil, UL President Jaime Hebert and UL AD Dr. Bryan Maggard about the incidents.
