A 23-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting on Brooks Drive Tuesday morning.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Brooks Drive early Tuesday morning that left one man dead.

According to Corpus Christi Police Department Public Information Officer Madeline Commons, 23-year-old Ricardo Ramirez was arrested on Thursday after detectives with CCPD’s Robbery/Homicide Division were able to obtain a murder warrant.

Commons said that Ramirez was taken into custody with the assistance of CCPD’s Gang Unit, patrol officers, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The arrest comes just a day after the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Officer identified the victim of the shooting as 22-year-old Nickolas C. Lara.

On Tuesday afternoon, CCPD officers and SWAT executed a search warrant in the 3000 block of Horne Road and Winters Dr.

According to Commons, CCPD detectives with Robbery/Homicide Division were able to obtain a murder warrant for 24-year-old Julian Hinojosa.

She said Hinojosa was taken into custody with the assistance of CCPD’s SWAT Team, Drone Unit, Gang Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, and the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday afternoon. 

Hinojosa was transported to Main Station to be formally interviewed by Detectives and then transported to the City Detention Center.

Police said a disturbance happened before the shooting and that the people involved knew each other. Multiple people were detained at the scene for questioning.
