Florence Helen Hunter, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Aug. 24, 2026, in Fort Worth. Florence was born on Feb. 20, 1931, in Talara, Peru, to Allen and Mary White. Her life was filled with adventure, love, learning, service and a deep appreciation for the people she held dear. A bright and accomplished young woman, Florence graduated from Rice Institute in 1953. Soon after, she began the next beautiful chapter of her life when she married the love of her life, Harold “Hal” Jackson Hunter, on June 26, 1954, in Houston, Texas. Florence was a woman who believed in staying involved and giving back to her community. Throughout her life, she was active in the Fort Worth Women’s Club, the Girl Scouts, ACA and her church circle. She built friendships wherever she went and generously gave her time, energy and heart to the organizations and people she loved. Those who know Florence will remember her love of crafting, sewing, traveling, shopping and most especially spending time with her family. She had a way of making memories through the simple moments, whether sharing a laugh, finding something special while shopping, creating something with her hands or gathering her family together. Her presence brought warmth, comfort and love to those around her. Florence leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her family. She is survived by her sister Joan Baker, her son, Allen Hunter and his wife, Rena’; her daughter, Mary Hunter; her granddaughters Kaitlyn Mashburn and her husband Kyle; Erica Carter and her husband Gene; and Sady Warren. She also has her cherished great-granddaughters, Chloe Carter, Kendall Mashburn, Kyla Bolton, Raelynn Warren and Riley Warren. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Allen and Mary White and by her devoted husband of 40 years, Harold “Hal” Hunter. Florence lived a long and meaningful life filled with family, friendship, service and love. Her legacy will continue through the generations of family who were blessed to know her, learn from her, and be loved by her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever carried in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Though she may no longer be with us, the love Florence gave so freely will remain-a beautiful part of her family’s story for generations to come. In Lieu of Flowers In honor of Florence’s lifelong dedication to her community and her involvement with the Girl Scouts, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Girl Scouts of the USA in memory of Florence Helen Hunter.
