Editor’s note: The following list is not based solely on recruitment, although it is a factor. Impact within a program, expected role on a team and production from the 2025 season are also considered.
Isaiah Taylor, junior CB/QB, Keller Central: Taylor, a two-way phenom, is the No. 2 recruit in Texas for the class of 2028 and the nation’s top-ranked cornerback. At quarterback, he threw for 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 659 yards and six scores. Top programs nationwide have extended offers to Taylor, who will lead Central’s playoff push.Hudson Tomcheck, junior QB, Southlake Carroll: Tomcheck, the No. 70 recruit in the class of 2028, is set to make his varsity debut and join Carroll’s lineage of outstanding quarterbacks. He’ll work with what’s arguably the top receiver room in Texas. He is a three-star recruit with offers from TCU, SMU, Baylor and more.DeShawn Edwards, senior QB, Mansfield Lake Ridge: Edwards threw for 2,421 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 1,346 yards and 22 scores in 2025. He earned 2025 Star-Telegram All-Area First Team honors.Jacob Torres, senior QB, North Crowley: Torres is stepping into a loaded North Crowley offense and has the talent to thrive. He was ruled ineligible as a junior. Now, the Emporia State commit is back. He posted big numbers as a sophomore with Burleson Centennial, earning district newcomer honors.Brett Kates, senior QB, Richland: Kates passed for 2,732 pass yards and 24 TDs last season while rushing for 582 yards and eight TDs en route to Star-Telegram Newcomer of the Year honors.Kaine Hill, senior QB, Springtown: Hill, who has offers from TCU, Air Force and more, passed for 2,650 yards and 34 TDs last season, leading one of the area’s best Class 4A offenses.Braylon Harris, senior QB, Hurst L.D. Bell: As a junior, Harris passed for 1,247 pass yards and 11 TDs while rushing for 574 yards and seven TDs. His veteran experience will be key for the Blue Raiders.Tre Williams, senior QB, Aledo: Williams, a three-star recruit, transferred to Aledo from Lewisville. With several talented wide receivers, expect him to put up some serious numbers with the Bearcats. He is a pro style QB who can orchestrate a pass-heavy offense if needed.Kameron Jenkins, senior QB, Alvarado: Leading a Class 4A offense that competed among the state’s best, Jenkins passed for a whopping 3,864 passing yards and 51 TDs as a junior.Kentrell Steward, senior QB, Fort Worth Wyatt: Steward was effective in a solid year for Wyatt, passing for 2,548 yards and 20 TDs while rushing for 1,127 yards and 18 TDs.
