Texas takes on TCU in the 2026 Players Era Showcase in another early-season women’s college volleyball tournament.

The 2026 Players Era Showcase features four of the best teams in women’s college volleyball over two days in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the second match of the first day, second-ranked Texas (1-1) takes on 18th-ranked TCU. This is the Horned Frogs’ first game of the season. The Longhorns, on the other hand, have not made things easy for themselves through two matches. They lost to 12th-ranked Arizona State (3-1) in the AVCA First Serve Tournament. The Longhorns followed that up with a five-set win against Marquette in that tournament after falling down a set. Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears look to get the Longhorns on track this season. It has been a shaky start for a team ranked second in the country and looking to win the program’s fifth national championship.

Stafford and Spears were both listed on the preseason watchlist for National Player of the Year in women’s college volleyball. They both have 33.0 points through the first two games of the season. Stafford leads the team with 28 kills; Spears has 26. Together, they have six service aces.

This is the season opener for the Horned Frogs. They enter the season ranked 18th in the country after making the NCAA Tournament. Evan Hendrix leads the Horned Frogs as another player on the preseason Player of the Year watchlist. She led the Horned Frogs with 591.0 points and 21 service aces as a sophomore.

In Sunday’s matches, the Longhorns take on top-ranked Nebraska. The Horned Frogs are challenged by UNLV to close out the 2026 Players Era Showcase.
