SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Animal Care Services is asking residents to open their homes to shelter dogs after severe storms overnight left the facility without power.
Shelter officials said the outage has significantly affected operations as crews work to restore service. Animal Care Services is now seeking short-term foster homes for dogs for one to two weeks to help ease crowding and create more space during the emergency.
Officials said every dog placed in foster care gives the shelter greater flexibility while power remains out.
Residents interested in fostering can visit San Antonio Animal Care Services at 4710 State Highway 151. The shelter is open until 5 p.m. Saturday.
Fostering is free, and the shelter will provide food and other necessary supplies for the dogs.
