More charges filed against mother accused of killing children, burning bodies

Marlene Vidal facing additional charges (August 27, 2026)

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — New charges have been filed against a 34-year-old Edinburg mother already accused of capital murder in the deaths of her two young children.

Marlene Vidal now faces additional charges of arson, tampering with evidence involving a human corpse and two counts of injury to a child, according to a new indictment.

Vidal is accused of killing her 5-year-old son, Adrian Akeel Vidal, and 6-year-old daughter, Aleeza Elena Vidal. Their bodies were found inside a burning vehicle May 15 near Loop 410 and Highway 151 on San Antonio’s West Side.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said the children died from sharp-force injuries before the fire.

Vidal’s trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 2.
