The University of Texas at San Antonio received a $125,000 gift from Adobe Inc. to help redesign six high-enrollment undergraduate courses, expanding access to digital and creative skill building for more than 11,000 students each year.
Faculty will use the support to update core courses with more hands-on assignments, affordable learning materials and digital tools students can use in the classroom and in their future careers. As part of the redesign, faculty will incorporate Adobe Express, generative AI and open educational resources into course activities.
The investment extends Adobe’s ongoing partnership with UT San Antonio. As a designated Adobe Creative Campus, the university provides students, faculty and staff with access to Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Express, supporting digital literacy, creativity and career-connected skill building across the university.
“This gift gives us an opportunity to reach more students in courses that shape the undergraduate experience,” said Melissa Vito, PhD, vice provost of academic innovation at UT San Antonio. “By combining course redesign, open educational resources and digital tools like Adobe Express, we can create learning experiences that are more affordable, practical and relevant to the skills students will need beyond the classroom.”
The redesigned courses will increase the use of open educational resources to help reduce course material costs while giving students more opportunities to complete hands-on assignments focused on digital and creative skill building. The work builds on UT San Antonio’s ongoing course redesign efforts, which have shown encouraging results, including improved student performance and higher rates of students earning A and B grades.
UT San Antonio was one of only a handful of institutions selected to receive one of Adobe’s inaugural Innovation Grants. The latest investment also builds on Adobe’s previous support for student engagement at the university, including support that helped launch and expand the Student AI Partners initiative.
