For Houston stock trader Michael Cohen, playing fantasy football wasn’t just a hobby — it was his ticket to winning millions, and then to building the home of his dreams.
Cohen is a five-time million-dollar winner on daily fantasy sports platform DraftKings, grossing about $6 million from fantasy football contests between 2015 and 2024. In recent years, he and his wife, Angela, used the winnings toward building a luxury home just outside of Katy’s Tamarron master-planned community.
Cohen stitched together multiple parcels to create a single 14.71-acre compound – an unusually large property in a sea of densely developed suburban streets. They worked with Houston-based Frankel Design Build to create a 14,695 square-foot home with a six-car garage and an attached casita.
An entertainment wing of the house includes an arcade-themed room, a home theater and a built-in bowling alley. In the opposite wing of the home, there’s a two-level library painted in moody dark tones that Cohen said could be an elegant wedding photo backdrop.
Custom details also include a set of oversized glass-and-iron front doors; a fireplace surrounded with floor-to-selling glazed stone; and a dining room rug with a wood-like appearance that blends into the light wood floors.
The Cohens are now selling the estate after deciding to divorce. The listing includes both the main residence the Cohens designed, as well as a separate older home on the property that could be used as a caretaker’s residence with a 3-car garage, said Nicholas Moncada of Douglas Elliman, who is marketing the listing. When combining both the new and old homes, the estate has a total of more than 18,000 square feet and 11 bedrooms.
