Martha Frances Cox, 82, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026. Visitation: 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Mount Olivet in the Breyley Suite. Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Martha was born on April 14, 1944, in Fort Worth, to Gilford Earl Markum and Ora Pauline Lovejoy. Martha graduated from Carter Riverside High School and went on to work for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. She was known for her giving and thoughtful nature and found great joy in caring for others. One of her greatest joys in life was helping to raise her beloved paraplegic niece, Wendy, with whom she shared a special bond. Martha was a wise, caring, and loving wife to her husband, Jerry Cox, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. She treasured her family and the life they built together, always offering love, support, and kindness to those around her. In her spare time, Martha enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. She appreciated the simple pleasures in life and cherished the quiet moments spent with family and loved ones. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Lovejoy; her sister, Sandra Trussell; her brother, Ron Markum; and her niece, Wendy Dempsey. Martha is survived by her husband, Jerry Cox; her niece, Angela Markum; and her great-nephew, Ian Thompson. Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
