SAN ANTONIO – From Olympic medals to championship teams and UTSA football milestones, the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame celebrated its newest class during a gala Saturday night.
The Class of 2026 was officially inducted during the black-tie tribute in the Stars at Night Ballroom. Honorees included Larry Coker, UTSA’s first head football coach; two-time Olympic swimming medalist James Feigen; former UTSA quarterback Frank Harris; and Tameka Roberts-Nuñez, an eight-time UTSA All-American in track and field.
The 1971 Robert E. Lee High School football team, which won the Texas 4A state championship, was also inducted.
The event also recognized Eddie Salas as the San Antonio Express-News Sportsman of the Year and Leighann Goode as Sportswoman of the Year.
Salas returned as Harlan High School’s football coach in August 2025 after undergoing treatment for Stage 4 large B-cell lymphoma of the bone. He learned he was cancer-free in July 2025 and later led Harlan to a 10-2 season and its second district championship in three years.
Goode recently wrapped up her University of Texas softball career with back-to-back national championships. The O’Connor High School graduate helped lead the Panthers to a UIL Class 6A state title in 2022 before playing four seasons for the Longhorns.
Proceeds from the gala benefit San Antonio Sports youth and community programs, which provide sports and fitness opportunities for thousands of people each year.
