Paula Louise Burkett, 59, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026. Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at Mount Olivet in the Breyley Suite. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: To follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials: In honor of Paula memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Born on Sept. 24, 1966, Paula was the beloved only child of Kenneth Alfred Johnston and Margie Marie Johnston. Paula lived her life with an unyielding spirit, a thirst for adventure, and a fierce, unwavering love for her family. Truly “tough as nails,” she was a courageous two-time survivor of both breast and throat cancer, facing life’s greatest challenges with remarkable grit, strength, and grace. Paula possessed a vibrant and magnetic personality and famously never met a stranger. She could strike up a warm conversation with anyone she crossed paths with. An avid outdoorswoman, Paula loved hunting and fishing, and time spent in the thrill of the chase. Paula also loved the freedom of riding her Harley Heritage Softail motorcycle alongside her husband, embracing every mile of the journey and the adventures they shared together. Paula was the architect of countless cherished family memories. She looked forward to her annual travels to New Orleans and San Antonio, creating traditions and experiences her family will treasure for years to come. She also made sure her family had season passes to Schlitterbahn, a testament to her fun-loving spirit and her desire to make life an adventure-even with the drive from Arlington. Above all, Paula treasured her family. Her strength, courage, humor, adventurous heart, and fierce devotion to those she loved were the qualities that made her truly unforgettable. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and countless memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Paula is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Everett Lee Burkett, and her three loving children and their spouses, McCaslin Burkett and Savannah, Peyton Kaminski and Dr. Ken, Ryan Burkett and Melissa. Four grandchildren, Caroline and Mason Kaminski, Grayson and Marley Burkett. Mother in Law, Quilla Burkett. Brothers in Law, Mark and Kevin Burkett. Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth A. and Margie M. Johnston and her Father in Law, Henry L. Burkett. Paula will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Though she is no longer with them, her adventurous spirit, courageous heart, and unwavering love for her family will live on forever in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind.
