A longtime Texas-based taco restaurant chain is closing all its Houston area locations Sunday. Chron confirmed multiple social media reports claiming the Katy, Kingwood and Sugar Land locations of Fuzzy’s Tacos and Margs, also known as Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and the last remaining Houston metro locations of the brand, are shuttering.
Chron reached out to all three Houston area locations of Fuzzy’s on Sunday. Nobody responded at the Katy and Kingwood locations, but an employee in Sugar Land confirmed the three locations were closing permanently as of Sunday. Neither Fuzzy’s corporate nor NGE, the franchisee of the three Houston area locations of Fuzzy’s, responded to Chron’s request for confirmation or comment Sunday.

The news of Fuzzy’s demise in Houston was first reported over multiple social media posts in the last few days. The Facebook profile for Friday Night Classics, a biweekly classic car hang outside the Katy Fuzzy’s location, announced to its followers Friday morning that its upcoming event for later that night was canceled because of the store’s impending closing.
“Fuzzy’s is closing for business,” read the post Friday. “I have a spot lined up and will be updating everyone soon. Thanks to everyone along the way, Friday Night Classics will come back better than ever. Thanks to the team at Fuzzy’s, wish you guys the best.”
Meanwhile, a Facebook user who posts about the northern Houston suburbs, calling herself The Livable Forest, wrote a post Friday night after learning the Kingwood location of Fuzzy’s was closing.

“I came over to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop tonight thinking I was about to mind my business, eat my tacos and have myself a world-class little Friday-night dinner,” read the post by The Livable Forest. “A server there told me this Sunday at 5 PM is expected to be the final time these doors are open at the Kingwood Town Center location.”
Then, a user in the Katy/Fort Bend Foodies group posted on Saturday a photo of the nearby location of Fuzzy’s, noting they just learned that store was closing after Sunday.
“Y’all go out tomorrow and show Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in Katy some love,” read the post. “We just found out today that tomorrow is their last day of business.”
Recent openings, changes
This all comes just months after franchisee NGE opened the Katy location of Fuzzy’s and announced changes to its three Houston area locations. NGE rebranded the taco shop to Fuzzy’s Tacos & Margs while opening the Mason Road spot on Dec. 22. The Fuzzy’s Tacos & Margs concept leaned into tableside service with servers renamed “tacotenders.”
“The Katy community deserves a place to unwind, connect, and enjoy incredible tacos, and that’s exactly what this new Fuzzy’s Tacos and Margs brings to the neighborhood,” Fuzzy’s Taco Shop President CMO Patrick Kirk said in a release at the time. “It’s a space built for good vibes, great food, and welcoming hospitality, and we’re excited to keep expanding our footprint across Houston.”
Dine Brands Global owns Fuzzy’s, which started in 2003 in Fort Worth. The brand has more than 40 additional locations spread across North Texas, East Texas and even Louisiana.
