NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Emergency personnel from several fire departments across Tennessee are being sent to help with North Texas wildfires.
According to the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association (TFCA), Texas submitted an Emergency Management Assistance Compact for structural support for the Ross fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties.
The Tennessee Mutual Aid System is supporting that request by sending a total of 29 personnel from Brentwood, Franklin, Madison County, Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Columbia and Maury County.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said that the Maury County Office of Emergency Management will be providing logistical support for the mission.
Units left Sunday morning and will be there for about 14 days to support structural fire protection, according to TFCA.
“Our firefighters embody the Volunteer State’s commitment to helping communities in their greatest time of need,” said TEMA Commissioner Patrick C. Sheehan. “Texas is facing dangerous and fast‑moving wildfire conditions, and Tennessee is proud to stand with them by sending skilled personnel and equipment prepared for extreme environments and extended operations.”
