HOUSTON — After an early 1-0 lead, the University of Houston Soccer team fell 2-1 to #3 Vanderbilt at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Sunday.
Sophomore Bailey Cate opened the scoring in the eighth minute when she slotted it home off an assist by junior Skylar Miller and senior Jocelyn Chinea.
Houston (2-1-2) led 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Vanderbilt (5-0) countered early in the second half, when a Cougar miscue led to a Sydney Watts goal in the 47th minute.
Watts again found the back of the net in the 67th minute off an assist by Lena Tusche.

The Cougars travel to Memphis to face the #24 ranked Tigers at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex.
