SAN ANTONIO – A traffic stop on U.S. Highway 281 late Wednesday led to the arrest of a man listed among the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office’s most wanted offenders and a passenger accused of possessing firearms and methamphetamine.
A deputy stopped a vehicle around 11:53 p.m. after noticing defective equipment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said the driver initially refused to identify himself but was recognized by the deputy as 54-year-old Magdaleno Murillo. Murillo had four active warrants, including allegations of continuous violence against the family, violating a bond or protective order involving assault or stalking, and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
Murillo was included on the sheriff’s office’s Top 20 Most Wanted list in July.
As deputies prepared to tow the vehicle, they said passenger Roger Gonzalez, 54, removed a bag containing multiple firearms and methamphetamine.
Gonzalez was arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance between 1 and 4 grams, authorities said.
