San Antonio police are searching for the person who shot a 16-year-old boy Saturday night on the East Side.
Officers were called about reports of gunfire around 9:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South Monumental Street in the Denver Heights neighborhood. They found the teen with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.
The teen told police he was at that location when gunshots were heard coming from a wooded area. KENS-TV reported that the shots came from behind the residence, where a house party was being held.
The teen was taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover, according to a KENS.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
Officers searched the area and could not find the shooter. They do not have information on who fired the gun or why, according to a preliminary police report.
The investigation is ongoing.
