Hot, Sunny Weather Returns to San Antonio After Friday Night Storms

  • August 31, 2026

FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS

RAIN CHANCES: Isolated sea breeze showers developed this afternoon, and small activity like this will continue in the next few days.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK: Hot, dry weather continues, with highs in the 90s with increasing potential for tropical moisture.

FORECAST

STARTING THE WEEK

Temperatures continue to stay near 100 as we enter the first days of September. Rain chances will be confined to coastal areas in the next three days before more activity could develop near San Antonio in later parts of the week. If you are busy cleaning up after Friday night’s storm, take plenty of breaks and find a cool place if needed.

TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT

The National Hurricane Center is watching an area in the Gulf that has been given a 70% chance of development in the next 2 days. The bulk of this moisture is expected to travel north over East Texas. As a result, San Antonio and the surrounding counties likely won’t see much rain activity.

RAIN CHANCES REMAIN LOW

A weak disturbance moving inland from the Gulf could bring a few isolated showers or thunderstorms to the Coastal Plains Monday through Wednesday. Most of these storms should remain close to the coast, although an isolated shower could attempt to move farther inland. Any showers that develop will likely be brief and provide little meaningful rainfall or relief from the heat.

There’s potential to see an uptick in rain coverage later in the week as tropical moisture lingers around Central Texas. A thunderstorm could be possible, but the majority of any activity that develops is expected to only be rain showers.

EXTENDED FORECAST

Hot and mostly dry conditions are expected to persist through much of the upcoming week, with highs generally in the upper 90s. By next weekend, the persistent ridge of high pressure may begin to weaken, but temperatures are still likely to hover around 100°.
