This fall, new and expanded services at the Downtown Campus will strengthen the student experience while enhancing the distinctive learning, research and engagement opportunities of downtown San Antonio.

From expanded housing and transportation options to dining updates and safety resources, these improvements support the daily needs of students, faculty and staff. Here’s a look at what’s new across the university’s downtown locations

The Continental

This fall, UT San Antonio introduced The Continental, a downtown student housing option just steps away from San Pedro I and II. Located inside the renovated historic Continental Hotel at 322 W. Commerce St., The Continental offers apartment-style residential spaces featuring fully furnished units, kitchenettes, in-unit laundry and included utilities. The development supports the university’s vision for a more connected urban campus while providing students with the opportunity to live, learn and engage in the heart of downtown San Antonio.

The Little Runner

The Little Runner relaunches this fall with exciting service enhancements, including new shuttles and a route that connects the university’s Downtown Campus locations. Now operated by UT San Antonio Campus Services, the shuttles travel along a continuous loop and can be tracked in real time using The Runner GPS app. With its new vehicles and reliable fixed-route service, The Little Runner provides the Downtown Campus community with a convenient, connected and cohesive way to travel between locations.

VIA Transportation Services

UT San Antonio’s partnership with VIA Metropolitan Transit provides Roadrunners with free, convenient transportation throughout San Antonio and between university locations. Through the VIA U-Pass program, current students, faculty and staff receive unlimited access to VIA bus service throughout the city.

The Roadrunner Express (VIA Route 93) offers direct service between the Main and Downtown campuses, while VIA Route 501 connects Main Campus and the health campus. For on-demand rides to destinations near the Main and Downtown campuses, the U-Pass includes free rides in the VIA Link Mainland and Downtown zones. Together, these options make it easier to access classes, internships, research opportunities and campus services, while reducing transportation costs and parking concerns.

Creekside Market

The newest dining concept at the Downtown Campus, Creekside Market, opens Aug. 19 at San Pedro II. Located inside the new home of the College of AI, Cyber and Computing, the market offers grab-and-go meals, snacks, beverages, UT San Antonio merchandise and everyday essentials. The market provides a convenient resource for the growing downtown community and expands the services available at San Pedro II.

Safety Resources

UT San Antonio is committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment across its downtown locations. A variety of resources are available to support the campus community, including the SafeZone mobile app, which provides instant access to emergency and non-emergency assistance and allows users to quickly connect with university public safety personnel.

Students and employees can also request campus safety escorts 24 hours a day through Public Safety, with additional support available through the university’s partnership with Centro San Antonio. Centro ambassadors help enhance safety through regular patrols, information kiosks and safety escort services throughout the Downtown Campus.

Downtown Fitness Center

The Downtown Fitness Center and Rowdy SportCourt™ offer a convenient and enjoyable recreation option for Campus Rec members at the Downtown Campus. Located on the first floor of the Frio Street Building, the Fitness Center features a variety of cardio and strength-training equipment, as well as outdoor basketball and pickleball courts. Faculty and staff can also take advantage of the facilities without a membership on Fridays.

Career-Engaged Learning

Center for Civic and Community-Engaged Leadership

The Center for Civic and Community-Engaged Leadership (CCEL) connects students with community partners through service, leadership programs and experiential learning opportunities.

USAA Student Success Center

The USAA Student Success Center supports students in the College of AI, Cyber and Computing from their first year on campus through graduation. The center provides mentoring, professional development, experiential learning opportunities and connections to research and industry partners, helping students develop the skills and experiences needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computing and data science.
