SAN ANTONIO — CPS Energy crews and contractors continued working overnight Monday to restore power to thousands of customers still impacted by recent severe weather.

As of 10 a.m., 360 outages were reported affecting just under 2,000 customers, according to an update Monday by CPS Energy and City leaders.

CPS Energy Interim CEO and president Frank Alvarez said a utility worker is expected to be ok after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning.

The utility said crews restored electricity to more than 85,000 customers on Sunday, resolving 710 weather-related outages between 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

“While significant progress has been made, we know that it does not lessen the frustration for customers who remain without power,” CPS Energy said in its update.

Officials said Public Works crews have been working nonstop since Friday night and expect traffic lights to be functional by Wednesday.

As of 6 a.m., 132 signals are restored, 24 city signals flashing, and 87 signals are possibly malfunctioning, pending verification/power restoration.

The City maintains 1,525 traffic signals. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) also maintains some signals within San Antonio city limits.

City officials are reminding drivers if you see a traffic signal flashing red or otherwise malfunctioning – treat it as an all-way stop sign.
