Red Lobster has experienced a few years of highs and lows amid efforts to revive the chain following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2024. As of August 2026, the company has continued restructuring, resulting in numerous closures across the United States, including in Texas, over the past two years.
San Antonio was directly affected by Red Lobster’s 2024 downsizing when the Zarzamora and I-35 location shuttered, along with the Highway 281 and Loop 1604 location. As of August 31, 2026, four Red Lobster restaurants continue to operate in the San Antonio area. A new report from Inc. has compiled recent information on 2026 closures of Red Lobsters, and Texas has not been marked as safe from the culling. The report named a restaurant on Gateway Boulevard in El Paso as one of 17 restaurants that are no longer in service.

The latest news release from the seafood chain came on August 17, when the company announced the return of its endless shrimp promotion, which is back for a limited time. In the past, the all-you-can-eat dining option has been credited with “financially ruining” Red Lobster.
“We proved we could bring it back in a way that delights our guests and works for our restaurant teams and our business,” said Damola Adamolekun, CEO of Red Lobster, in the news release.
