Jennifer Cowley announced on Monday that she is stepping down from her role as President of the University of Texas at Arlington.
Cowley was UT Arlington’s first female president and served in the role for over four years.
“What I will treasure most about my time as president is all of the people who have worked to accomplish what we imagined for our future. Together, we have worked to turn our shared dreams into reality,” Crowley said.
In a letter to faculty, staff and students, Crowley said she looks forward to returning to teaching. She is listed on UTA’s website as a professor of Public Affairs and Planning.
“I look forward to rejoining the faculty and returning to teaching and research, where I will get to engage directly in mentoring our students. I am grateful to remain part of the Maverick community. And you’ll still see me walking around campus in our school colors, carrying that Maverick spirit forward,” Crowley said in her letter.
She did not indicate when she would officially step down, but did say University of Texas System Chancellor John Zerwas would appoint an interim president.
Prior to becoming UT Arlington’s president in 2022, Crowley served as the provost and vice president for academic affairs for five years at the University of North Texas and 16 years at Ohio State University in a variety of capacities.
