Girls volleyball
Johnsburg d. Plano 27-29, 25-17, 25-9: At Plano, the Skyhawks rallied to win the Kishwaukee River Conference opener, as Adelaide Bruns racked up 22 assists, three aces, five digs and two blocks. Emerson Payne-Brennan had five blocks and six kills, Alexis Sweetwood totaled seven kills and two blocks, Emily Loud served four aces, and Emma Niemi had nine digs.
Marengo d. Harvard 25-13, 25-19: At Marengo, the Indians won the KRC opener over the Hornets.
Harvard was led by Evelyn Powles (two kills, one ace, one block), Sophia Saucedo (one kill, two blocks), Madison McDonough (two aces, one assist, nine digs) and Makala Wanland (one kill, one ace).
Richmond-Burton d. Sandwich 25-16, 25-14: At Sandwich, Dani Hopp had 10 kills and eight digs, Helaina Thibadeau added seven kills and one block, and the Rockets opened KRC action win against the Indians. R-B (4-0) also received contributions from Mia Furlan (four kills), Josie Franckowiak (19 assists, seven digs, two aces), Lanee Cooley (eight digs, four aces), Malorie Komar (two aces, two digs), Addy Woods (three digs) and Blakely Sterbenz (two aces).
Boys golf
Antioch Quad: At Spring Valley in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin, the host Sequoits (152) won followed by Johnsburg (167), Woodstock North (173) and Richmond-Burton (183). The Skyhawks were led by Frederic Eckardt 39 and Jacob Smith’s 40. R-B’s Luke Loring shot a 43, and Caleb Weir had the low score for North with a 41.
Girls golf
Crystal Lake Central co-op 161, Jacobs 181: At RedTail in Lakewood, Giuliana Dickson fired a 36 on the front nine to lead Crystal Lake Central’s co-op. The winners also counted Grace Nelson’s 41, Ryleigh Mazzacano’s 42 and Lennix Hafner’s 42.
Jacobs was led by Natalie Zimmerman’s 40 and Bianca Ramirez’s 41.
Waterford 196, Johnsburg 208: At Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the Skyhawks suffered their first loss of the season in a nonconference match. Addison Sweetwood was co-medalist, shooting a 44 on the Highlands’ front-par 36. Rose Rossman and Charlotte Cantrell each had a 54 for Johnsburg (4-1), and Stori Hurckes carded a 56.
Flag football
St. Charles North 48, Jacobs 6: At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles suffered their first loss of the season to fall to 3-1, while the North Stars improved to 4-0 in the nonconference game.
Burlington Central 28, Streamwood 0: At Streamwood, the Rockets improved to 3-1 with the nonconference win.
