GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — A Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office deputy suffered minor injuries while attempting to arrest a landlord accused of breaking into a tenant’s home, triggering an assault and a suspect search.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Ridge Road regarding 64-year-old James Waugh, who fled into the home when confronted. During the arrest attempt, 55-year-old Toya Robinson choked the deputy with his radio cord, while Waugh tried to grab the deputy’s Taser before fleeing.
Robinson was arrested for aggravated assault on a public servant and interference with public duties. The deputy was treated at Resolute Hospital and released. Authorities are actively searching for Waugh, who faces warrants for attempting to take an officer’s weapon, evading arrest, and resisting arrest.
