The fifth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season has officially formed with its sights set on Texas.
Tropical Storm Edouard was confirmed by the National Hurricane Center as of their 10 pm update on Tuesday night, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour. The storm is moving west-northwest at 7 miles per hour, with landfall expected on the Texas-Louisiana border sometime Tuesday.
The storm is projected to dump 3-5 inches of rain in some areas across Houston, with some east of Interstate 45 seeing higher amounts.
A Tropical Storm Warning extends from the Bolivar Peninsular to the middle coast of Louisiana. A Flood watch is also in effect for Harris County until Wednesday morning.
Numerous school districts have canceled classes for Tuesday in preparation for the storm.
