I know what you’re thinking.
“Fall? Have you BEEN outside in Lubbock?”
Fair point. West Texas isn’t exactly breaking out the sweaters and firing up the fireplace yet. But Dairy Queen apparently isn’t waiting on Mother Nature, because the Fall Blizzard Treat Collection has officially arrived at participating DQ restaurants across Texas.
And yes, Pumpkin Pie is back.

A Brand-New Blizzard for Fall
The newcomer this year is the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard Treat, which combines brown sugar cookie dough pieces and brown sugar topping with DQ’s famous soft serve.
Basically, some food genius at Dairy Queen looked at a warm batch of brown sugar cookies and thought, “You know what this needs? Ice cream.”

I respect that kind of thinking.
The new Blizzard is available beginning August 31st through September 27th, while supplies last.
The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Is Back
Then there’s the old favorite.
The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat returns with real pumpkin pie filling and pieces of pie crust blended into DQ soft serve. It’s topped with whipped topping and a dusting of nutmeg.
It’s essentially pumpkin pie in a cup, except you don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving and nobody asks you why you haven’t called your Aunt Denise lately.
The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard is also scheduled to stick around through September 27th, while supplies last.
Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council CEO Lou Romanus said in announcing the fall lineup:
“While it is hot here in Texas, these two Blizzard Treats remind us that fall is coming,”
He’s right. In Lubbock, sometimes you have to eat like it’s fall before it actually feels like fall.

If you’re one of those people who hears “fall” and immediately starts looking for something involving coffee, DQ has you covered.
Participating Texas locations are also introducing the Toasted Marshmallow Mocha DQ Coffee Cooler. It features cold brew blended with DQ soft serve, along with cocoa fudge, whipped topping and even more cocoa fudge.

That doesn’t sound like coffee so much as dessert with a caffeine problem, and I’m perfectly fine with that.

Of course, Texas Dairy Queen isn’t abandoning the classics just because pumpkin season has arrived.
You can still pair your Blizzard with a Hunger-Buster, Steak Finger Country Basket or Texas T-Brand Tacos.
DQ restaurants have been part of Texas for more than 79 years, which probably explains why ordering steak fingers, gravy, fries and a Blizzard somehow feels completely reasonable around here.
So while the calendar says September and the Lubbock thermometer may still be screaming July, there’s at least one sign that cooler weather is eventually coming.

Now we just need somebody to tell the weather that.
