Boil water notice issued for all Ingleside customers after water main break

Ingleside residents are being told to boil tap water before drinking or cooking with it after a water main break caused a loss of water pressure.

INGLESIDE, Texas — All City of Ingleside water customers are being told to boil their tap water before drinking or cooking with it after a water main break caused a loss of pressure.

The city issued a boil water notice on Tuesday for its entire public water system. The notice will remain in effect until the city says the water is safe to use normally again.

The city said water should be brought to a rolling boil for 2 minutes, then allowed to cool before use. Bottled water can also be used.

The notice was issued after a water main break caused water pressure to drop. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires boil water notices in certain situations when pressure drops, as contaminants could enter the water system.

The city said children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems should take extra precautions.

Residents will be notified when the boil water notice is lifted and tap water can be used normally again.
