An inoperable air conditioning system and sweaty employees led to the temporary closure of one Fort Worth pizza joint in the latest round of city health inspections, according to the report.

Fort Worth’s city health inspections function on a demerit system: When the total of demerits exceeds 30, the restaurant must fix the worst violations immediately and has 48 hours to correct the rest.
The Little Caesars Pizza location at 3869 Maurice Ave. had a score of 21 and was temporarily closed. Inspectors found that air conditioning in the restaurant was not working, and that temperatures at some vents registered at 113 degrees, according to the report. A prep cooler holding food registered a temperature of 60 degrees, employees were sweating, and condensation was forming on equipment.
Rainbow Food Mart, located at 1936 Mitchell Blvd., had a score of 18 and was temporarily closed. Inspectors found rodent droppings in the kitchen and on store shelves.
Five establishments had problems with roaches:
Tia’s On The Bluff, located at 1301 E. Bluff St., had a score of 18. Inspectors noted a rice bucket was heavily infested with roaches.
Hot Spot Gyro, located at 2727 8th Ave., had a score of 8. One live roach was observed in the restaurant.
Eatzi’s Market And Bakery, located at 1540 S. University Drive, had a score of 7. One live roach was found in a dishwashing area.
Marble Slab Creamery #1165, located at 5427 S. Hulen St., had a score of 4. Inspectors found a dead roach on the floor of the service area.
The Honey Baked Ham Company, located at 4710 Southwest Loop 820, had a score of 4. Dead roaches and crickets were found in a back walk-in area.
