Lubbock’s favorite, home-grown, music artist, Buddy Holly, was born on September 7, 1936. That means his birthday is coming up, and the Rave On Lounge at Buddy Holly Hall wants you to join in the fun!

Free Buddy Holly Birthday Bash

The family-friendly birthday festivities will take place on Friday, September 4, at Rave On Lounge Patio (1300 Mac Davis Lane). Admission is FREE and fully open to the public, so swing on by!

 

 

The birthday bash will begin at 6 p.m. where guests can enjoy viewing classic cars with a night of community engagement. The concessions and a bar with drinks don’t hurt either. Oh, and there will be a live performance from Vibe LBK for that rock ‘n’ roll element that we all know and love.

To cap off the celebrations, there will be a special drive-in feature of La Bamba at 9 p.m. Fans may recognize that title as the number-one song from Ritchie Valens who passed away along with Holly and the Big Bopper in 1959.

Connected with First Friday Art Trail

This birthday bash is a part of Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail (FFAT). If you’ve never been, I promise you that you’re missing out on a great experience.

The free, self-guided tour takes you through the rich art scene we have in West Texas. Artists from all walks of life come by to display their work, whether it’s paintings, sculptures, clothing, or even live music!

As the name suggests, FFAT takes place on the first Friday of every month. Visiting hours between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Check out their website for more info.

Definitely worth a visit if you’ve never been. Take the family for a great weekend experience!
