BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A former Bexar County sheriff’s deputy was arrested in connection with alleged conduct believed to have occurred in Laredo before she joined the agency, according to a news release.

A warrant was issued for Anabell Rivera on Monday, and she was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on a charge of tampering with a government record, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.

BCSO said Rivera was off duty at the time of her arrest.

Rivera had been employed with the agency for two years, the sheriff’s office said. She resigned in lieu of termination following her arrest.

BCSO said the Laredo Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the case.

Additional information was not immediately available. The sheriff’s office deferred questions about the investigation to Laredo police.
