Catching a flight in Central Texas this Labor Day weekend? Chances are you’ll be flying out of San Antonio or Austin. But what happens if your late-night flight gets delayed or you miss a flight in Austin?
Yes, you can sleep overnight at the Austin airport so long as you have an actual flight, AUS Public Information Specialist Samantha Rojas told MySA. While it’s an uncommon occurrence at the airport, Rojas explained it does still happen happen occasionally.
“We don’t have too many folks who have to do this, but usually it’s because they missed a flight or something happened with their evening flight, and they get rebooked for an early AM flight,” Rojas said through email.
However, AUS does not recommend for travelers to arrive there a day earlier than expected to sleep overnight to get to the airport early. The airport offers two on-site hotels, The Hilton Austin Airport and the Hyatt Place Austin Airport, as options for those who want to wake up as close to the terminal as possible.
The hotels are located on the same property as the airport near the AUS retail center, according to the airport’s online map. Both hotels also have shuttles to pick up and take travelers from the Barbara Jordan Terminal for departures and arrivals.
