Flood threat continues Wednesday across southeast Texas as Edouard weakens

Edouard made landfall as a tropical storm near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana at 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday September 1st, as a 60-mph storm. The center of circulation will impact parts of southeast Texas Wednesday.

Edouard is now a tropical depression and will continue to weaken as it continues farther inland.

In LouisianaWednesday a flood threat and wind advisory:

As the center of circulation moves northwest Wednesday the heaviest rain will fall near it’s center. So far southeast Texas has picked 4 to 12 inches of rain the past 24 hours. A flood watch is in effect through Wednesday evening as the tropical moisture could still lead additional rain bands through Wednesday evening. Those bands can bring a quick 1 to 2″ of rain falling in an hour.

Also close to the center of Edouard will be strong winds. A wind advisory is in effect through 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. East, northeasterly winds 20-30 mph with gusts between 35 and 45 mph.

We could see a redevelopment of storms early Wednesday morning. The best chance for morning rain is across Trinity, Polk and Liberty counties. Northwest Harris County will see some spotty bands along I-69.

Wednesday evening is when Houston could get a chance at rain as Edouard continues to fall apart the remaining moisture and energy will push spotty to scattered rain from Huntsville to Pearland from 2 pm to 9pm.

Even through Edouard moves out Wednesday, left over tropical moisture will create more afternoon thunderstorms Thursday. In fact, we may see afternoon storms through the beginning of the holiday weekend.
