A San Antonio-born sports retailer has set plans for a new multi-million-dollar location just outside of Texas’ capital city. Academy Sports + Outdoors is building a $6 million store in Manor, a suburb northeast of Austin.

The proposed Academy will be a ground up construction of a new 55,000 square-foot commercial retail facility, according to its scope of work outlined in the TDLR. Construction on the new Academy is expected to begin on November 3, with an estimated completion date set for March 2, 2027, per the TDLR.

An Academy spokesperson confirmed the new store to MySA as the company prepares to welcome its latest Central Texas location. The Texas-based chain, known for selling top brand’s sports apparel and gear, currently operates 331 stores across 21 states and counting, with 120 in the Lone Star State.

“More fun is coming to your local community,” said Academy Senior Communications Specialist Kelley Jones in a statement. “Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to be opening a new store in Manor.”
