Hannah Evans announced Monday that she has joined the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate as a meteorologist, sharing that she had just wrapped up her first day on the job.

Evans comes to Houston from WSAV in Savannah, Ga., where she spent nearly three years with the station’s Storm Team 3. She joined the NBC affiliate as a meteorologist in November 2023.

Evans announced her departure from WSAV in July but initially kept her destination under wraps.

“My next chapter is something super exciting for me,” Evans wrote at the time. “I’ll still be forecasting in the South…just a little farther west. Stay tuned… I’ll be sharing where I’m headed very soon!”

Before moving to Georgia, Evans worked at WKTV NewsChannel 2 in Utica, N.Y., where she began her television career shortly after graduating from college. She joined the station as a weekend meteorologist in July 2021 before moving to its weekday morning newscast that December.

Originally from Philadelphia, Evans developed an interest in weather while growing up and later studied meteorology and atmospheric sciences at Penn State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2021.

While at Penn State, Evans gained forecasting and broadcasting experience through the student-run Campus Weather Service. She also appeared on the university’s student-produced Weather or Not program and worked as a meteorologist for WPSU’s Centre County Report.
