El Paso, TX – Yesterday, Democratic Nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa held events in El Paso where she met with local leaders to talk about data centers in their community, joined students on campus for a meet-and-greet at the University of Texas at El Paso, and fired up El Pasoans at a community town hall.

Hinojosa started the visit with a press conference on data centers alongside El Pasoans fighting global corporations encroaching on their community. Outside the county courthouse, Hinojosa continued her call for Greg Abbott to sign an emergency executive order putting a moratorium on all data center builds until the legislature meets to create real legal protections for Texans.
“You can hear there are real concerns, legitimate concerns from people who live in El Paso about the data centers,” said Hinojosa. “Greg Abbott has said he is pausing approval of the data centers. We know that goes away on November 4th. When I am governor, we will review the contracts that are jeopardizing the water that people in El Paso need to live and drink.”
Hinojosa then joined Beto O’Rourke for a meet-and-greet at the UTEP campus. Talking to students at Leech Grove, she listened to their concerns about the economy and homeownership, and outlined her plan to help Texans secure the American Dream.
In the evening, Hinojosa hosted nearly 500 El Pasoans for community town hall, engaging directly with residents on affordability, public school funding, and the looming impact of data centers on local water and energy resources.
