A new Marshalls is taking shape in Windcrest as the San Antonio suburb adds another major retailer to its Interstate 35-area shopping lineup.
The discount department store is planned for Windcrest, located at 8680 Fourwinds Drive, next to the Skechers store and near I-35. The location will occupy the former Whataburger University space.
As of Tuesday, September 1, interior work was progressing at the future store. The existing space has been completely cleared out, with the interior stripped down and prepared for the new retail build-out.
Exterior signage is also now in place, giving shoppers a clearer look at the coming retailer. A Marshalls sign hangs outside the building with a “Coming Soon” message.
TDLR records list a September 4, 2025, construction start date and a March 1, 2026, completion date. Nearly a year after the project was filed and about six months after its listed completion date, interior work is still underway at the future Marshalls.
Once open, Marshalls will join a cluster of retailers along Fourwinds Drive, including Ross, Bealls, Office Depot and Cavender’s Boot City.
For shoppers in Windcrest and nearby Northeast San Antonio communities, the “Coming Soon” sign offers the latest indication that Marshalls is getting closer to opening its doors.
