Tropical Depression Edouard brings flash flood risk to Texas; expected to dissipate by Wednesday
The system will continue to weaken due to land interaction after making landfall as a tropical storm.
FORT MYERS, Fla. —
The Gulf Coast Hurricane Tracking team is monitoring Tropical Depression Edouard as it moves inland over Texas. The system is expected to dissipate by Wednesday night.
As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression Edouard is producing maximum sustained winds of 35 mph as it moves north-northwest at 5 mph.
It continues to drop lots of rain in Texas, bringing a significant flash flood risk to East Texas.
As Edouard continues to weaken due to land interaction, the system will still bring the threat for heavy rain and flooding to East Texas and North Texas today.
Edouard made landfall at 2:20 p.m. Central time Tuesday afternoon near Johnson Bayou, LA. Around the time the storm was making landfall, wind gusts of 71 mph were reported in Texas Point, Texas. A 52 mph sustained wind was observed at Calcasieu Pass, Louisiana.
Edouard has threatened communities that can’t seem to catch a break this hurricane season. Earlier this hurricane season, Tropical Storm Arthur and Tropical Storm Bertha brought numerous tropical threats to the northwestern Gulf Coast.

The tropical storm warning has been discontinued along the Texas and Louisiana coasts. The National Hurricane Center has issued the final advisory for Tropical Depression Edouard.
Elsewhere, the tropics remain quiet with no areas of interest over the next week.
