CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The woman convicted in a deadly 2022 wrong-way crash on the Harbor Bridge is now being considered for possible release on parole.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) began processing Roxanne Palacios case for review by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles on Tuesday, September 1.
The review will determine whether Palacios can be released from prison and serve the remainder of her sentence in the community under the supervision of a parole officer. This marks the third time Palacios has been considered for parole. According to TDCJ, parole reviews are normally completed within two to four months. A review does not mean an offender will be released.

Palacios pleaded guilty in Nueces County on April 11, 2025, to two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle.
The charges stemmed from a Nov. 2, 2022, wrong-way crash on Highway 181 over the Harbor Bridge. Authorities said Palacios was driving the wrong way when she crashed into a vehicle driven by Mathew Banda. Banda and his passenger, San Patricio County dispatcher Betsy Mandujano, were killed.
Palacios then struck another vehicle, seriously injuring Janell Donaho.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles will ultimately decide whether Palacios is approved for release to supervision.
