HOUSTON – For 20 years, Houston’s Polish community has opened its doors to neighbors from across the city through Dożynki, a heartfelt celebration of Poland’s harvest traditions.
The Houston Polish Harvest Festival returns Sept. 18–20 at Our Lady of Częstochowa Roman Catholic Church, 1731 Blalock Road. Admission is free, and everyone—from those with Polish roots to those simply curious about the culture—is invited.
The weekend will feature homemade favorites such as pierogi, kielbasa, gołąbki, bigos, potato pancakes and traditional desserts. Guests can enjoy live Polish music, polka dancing and performances by Dance Group Wawel, Mini Wawel, Babcia Wawel, Dance Group Regina from Canada and accordionist Kamil Smel.
Families can browse Polish pottery, folk art, amber jewelry and handmade gifts, while children enjoy activities, cultural exhibits and Polish Musical Chairs. A beer garden and silent auction will add to the festive atmosphere.
Sunday will begin with a traditional Polish Mass at 10 a.m., followed by a procession and bread-breaking ceremony—symbols of gratitude, faith and community.
Festival hours are 4–10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. Free off-site parking and shuttle service will be available.
