SAN ANTONIO – A driver was killed after an SUV slammed into the back of a cement truck and burst into flames.
The accident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday off N Loop 1404 W near NW Military Highway on the Northwest Side.
Witnesses rushed to help and tried to pull the SUV driver from the wreckage, but the vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames.
Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire, but the driver could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the cement truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police have not released the name of the driver who was killed or said what may have caused the SUV to crash into the cement truck.
The investigation is ongoing.
