Benji Snead has been named Editor in Chief of Lubbock Lights, bringing decades of journalism, broadcasting, and editorial leadership experience to the nonprofit news organization.
An award-winning journalist and former News Director at KCBD-TV, Snead has extensive experience leading newsrooms, covering breaking news and major community issues, and reporting on the people and institutions shaping Lubbock and West Texas.
“I’m excited to build on what Lubbock Lights has accomplished and bring our readers new ways to experience the unique local journalism they’ve come to expect,” Snead said.
Snead is also host of The Wake Up Call with Benji Snead on 92.3 The Hub, where he regularly interviews elected officials, business leaders, educators, policymakers, and other influential voices across the region.
His career also includes strategic communications and media consulting, providing him with a broad perspective on public affairs and communicating complex issues clearly and effectively.
As Editor in Chief, Snead will lead Lubbock Lights’ continued commitment to substantive, independent local journalism and in-depth coverage of the issues that matter most to Lubbock and West Texas.
