EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A theft suspect fleeing from El Paso police was arrested Thursday after entering the grounds of Jefferson Silva High School, according to the El Paso Independent School District and El Paso Police Department.
Police said officers attempted to stop the suspect in connection with a theft investigation around 12:11 p.m., but the individual initially evaded them.
The suspect was later located and apprehended at Jefferson Silva High School, police said.
The person was arrested in connection with the incident. The identity of the suspect was not revealed.
EPISD said law enforcement officers were actively pursuing the individual when the person entered campus grounds.
“At no time were students or staff in danger, and campus operations continued safely,” the district said in a statement.
District and campus administrators worked with law enforcement during the incident to maintain safety and security at the school, EPISD said.
