EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 36-year-old West El Paso man has been identified as the man who was killed in an industrial accident on Wednesday while performing maintenance on heavy machinery, according to El Paso police.
As KFOX14/CBS4 previously reported, on Wednesday the El Paso Police Department responded to the 7200 block of Paseo Del Norte to assist with the investigation of a fatal industrial accident.
According to EPPD on Thursday, the preliminary investigation found that 36-year-old Ramiro Aaron Sanchez was performing maintenance on heavy machinery when the equipment fell on him, which led to his death.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also responded to the incident and is investigating.
Police said no foul play is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Previously speaking to KFOX14/CBS4 on Wednesday, EPPD’s Detective Judy Oviedo said, “There are several individuals involved, the businesses, OSHA, so that’s going to be up to the investigators how they decide to do that, but our condolences do go out to the families.”
Meanwhile, according to Wagner Equipment in a social media post, the man, now identified as Sanchez, was an employee of Wagner Equipment in El Paso.
Wagner Equipment shared the following statement with KFOX14/CBS4:
We are saddened by the tragic incident that occurred [Wednesday]. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends, and all those affected.The matter is currently under investigation. Wagner Equipment is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and, because the investigation remains ongoing, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.
