HOUSTON – A Houston man is dead following a kitchen fire Friday morning at an apartment on Cattails Lane.
Houston Fire Department crews responded to 6313 Cattails Lane at 11:43 p.m. Friday after a neighbor reported smelling smoke coming from the adjacent apartment.
“First due company had light smoke,” HFD Captain Lewis said. “Fire did not extend to other apartments.”
Crews made entry and located a 45-year-old man, who lives alone, unconscious inside. First responders began CPR on scene before transporting him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“A neighbor reported she smelled smoke from her neighbor’s apartment,” HFD Lt. Wilkens said. “HFD arrived, made entry quickly; fire in the kitchen.”
No firefighters were injured. HFD’s arson unit is investigating the cause.
